therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
0 M/ H. ?( f  O, S( H0 n5 |pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
4 \& z& D6 t: ~3 E/ X* N" ]& o) ~3 Yeat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can
' {6 C# \2 K" c. |' @: }2 l/ Msmartly avoid it?/ N; h' j) j7 L; p/ w3 p
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out * r! r, y1 H7 [: Q
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
+ j+ Z& E+ E( Eto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
0 _- Q. O. `3 g3 S1 o3 Tmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
$ Q5 c9 \0 X; W/ y! G5 i$ TBudget.'

risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
3 G0 \1 k8 e% L" S* ^be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
6 [& B& e/ A& f$ O( }1 Xare offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
( O+ N' U# p* n: a- W4 k: aespecially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
  {" L' {6 w: [1 i0 \relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
2 V" K2 T  A) l% N, B* c1 x?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to   B* ~0 Z9 `" S9 N
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
8 l  z. Y1 k: C$ i! X5 s4 f# `breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, , f! L" @' w) g+ L
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
% _  o% b  G4 h) mtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
- l2 p% s. ?- L2 i" L& t$ ~6 f8 I- \* fplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will

a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
+ ]9 f5 L% i  G/ b6 I( P4 _8 ]and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating ! T3 W8 z4 i2 ~
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down ) z4 D! Q' `/ C* \
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate + w4 A$ F* o! v/ L$ D6 f. S
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.

on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected 8 e- y! Y/ u% `

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of - Q+ H* r7 k- ?/ Y; I
the selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,

somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served
