" i/ A) I2 p- h: ]# F. G+ N- d Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

( ]3 w. H/ c# O% l! l: f& a Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
9 o3 ^, M9 h( W9 iThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
8 F! n3 v* b* U5 q' B: onewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
( R4 m/ V- |! tWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
) q+ U. K3 D6 a* v4 U3 pneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for - w9 q' p/ e+ q7 L6 U/ {; j
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial / E3 Z5 C; I- e1 x0 Q
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Key Accountability

within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.
; T) o- F. h) l$ k8 [: q Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.

Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental
! b' a# D- B0 h% l/ _0 v0 ncase plan support for clients who have complex needs. ! L! H7 v, n( |* o
Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. B: |$ \5 G# W* t/ K7 B
Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful & f( o% M L7 t! u0 P

Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
$ C K! x# w k5 Bexperience in Social Work or related human service fields. 5 ]. x* F( r1 p
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
- r$ d9 R' B. osupport needs ; T+ M/ J# a, q2 P
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
, h0 |' w3 z" Y' ~* e Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages ! w5 f1 ?6 A! z
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate + x6 W8 W/ J z
insurance coverage for work . p+ a- ~- G- m: Q5 f4 A
