Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or & w" z1 O6 G# U- q5 K O3 e y
community cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to . y7 `4 O. @0 i" o
provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

# M. n& ]$ }, M5 k3 g, m' @ Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. ( h, l5 y9 _& h1 i: z: R* r
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
; I5 e$ g$ ^. R. ^+ |& gnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
% y m& k* q, _0 lWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as ) M% @( L, M0 m& Z+ m6 _
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
4 b2 _9 `+ U( @newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
$ [. S J# x" W$ J9 v7 eassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Qualification - M6 X1 z' F1 v$ z% i' z4 X2 z
+ `" \! y1 P d1 Z: {$ _ Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
. S) q5 F4 P' n1 f6 Z( u# _experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
0 l- \3 v n9 Z5 l3 y$ h Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family 9 L5 [0 M9 b: |; M) ~9 o: C. b

Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 5 \; i$ ]3 t3 H- Z4 D
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
