provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. ! \1 @1 v0 `# ~6 i* B3 c. r
0 @+ b. a \6 `# ?! l Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
7 f# z$ |. E# X9 K- `The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, , }! G4 u* }$ j$ Q9 Q7 ?
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social * j3 z5 d- ^, m; }8 u
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as ! E. Z. [$ C( z1 ?9 L0 K' F' M
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
6 B' q0 W) T; W6 o3 \3 N2 Snewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
# [4 T- L( i7 q+ |+ l/ aassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Accesses comprehensive, up-to-date information about services and resources available ) q2 s2 t/ I4 `: C8 m7 C8 n
within the city of Edmonton and New Canadian Health Network partners.
9 \: e5 j# q3 d9 C8 s0 Y' p& s Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.
& { t( ]4 O) ^* ]( b3 H4 k. Q Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families. 1 ?6 m) A, O) h% g
Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental $ @5 M$ B- a% y, s

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.
% e' Q# |% u K0 l; Y$ O Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful

Qualification ' w6 v, J& Z+ T
1 T# T' D3 J& R! @. _# Y0 l! `6 h
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and ) [& o" D$ j( ]9 n# O/ T: e
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
7 S5 D% S, N8 f7 K' x! n Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family 5 D @6 D9 ?3 [" [: U% C( r1 M
support needs
! V/ H2 h" F8 j Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
8 X T' n" n3 l$ v2 u& T Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages 4 a0 H* r d. U9 a% {
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate . h5 [5 E/ p& s
insurance coverage for work
