How to Use The Direction Meter

Today the foreman gave me a motor direction meter. I asked several l Chinese journeypersons if they know how to use the mater nor not ?  No one knew how to use it. I write this article to show how to use this motor direction meter.
Direction meter function: testing the direction of a motor.
Instructions.
1. Ensure the motor is deenergized
2. Connect the direction meter’s three clips to the motor’s three pairs of wires(6 wires); ( the Red clip can be considered as the red phase, the white clip can be considered as the black phase and the blue clip can be considered as the black phase. ) Each clip connects one pair of motor wires.
3. Facing to the motor shaft, turn the shaft clockwise. At same the time press the TEST button. If the left led light T1 turns on, the connection means motor is running clockwise. If the right side led light T3 turn on, the connection means motor is running counter clockwise.
Example: IF the motor shaft is turning counter clockwise, connect the motor to the power wires.
Step 1.  Following above 1 and 2 finish the connection.
Step2.  Facing to the motor shaft, turn the shaft clockwise.  Press the TEST button,
If the right T2 turns on, than mean the connection is ok. Otherwise
if the left light T1 turns on, that means the connection is not correct, change any two pair of wires.
Step 3. Mark the motor’s wires with red, black, and blue tapes. Remove the meter, then connect to the power wires
My motor skill is poor. Above is just my instructions. I hope it is collect.

lz你有好几个错, T1下方LED是CLOCKWISE INDICATOR, T3下方LED是CCW INDICATOR, 还有红白蓝对应于红黑蓝,而不是红黑黑. 这东东不叫DIRECTION METER, 应叫MOTOR ROTATION INDICATOR.

细读后发现太多错了, 建议看原说明书. 这里红白蓝三个LEADS对应T1,T2和T3. 将此红白蓝和电机的T1,T2和T3相接,CW转时T1下方的CW INDICATOR亮,接线正确.....

难得楼主能拍照片，顶。
片片雪花知识渊博，解释很清楚。
该仪器在马达联结前常用，有机会接触的同胞们，先会为快。QC的人应该都会用。
另外的一个仪器是测试三相电源的相序的（带电测试），一般和这个在一个包装盒里，有机会也多看看。

My foreman called this as “direction meter”. My partner thought that “ direction meter “and “rotation meter” are the same meaning. It is not a big deal. Your writing is very good. Thank you a lot.
"the blue clip can be considered as the black phase"
should be written as
"the blue clip can be considered as the blue phase"

看不懂这段，3根线怎么接到6根线的。通常3PHASE马达有6个接线头。是不是先做完 Y 或 D 连接后，再连这3根线？谢谢。

I am 片片雪花, some three phase motors have three leads--T1,T2 and T3. some have nine leads--T1,T2....and T9. still some may have 6 leads depending on how you terminate it and how they are designed. there are many posibilities. Here are some examples, for delta connection, there can be six leads. For dual voltage motor Y connection, if you choose low voltage connection, connect T4,T5 and T6 together(neutral), T1 and T7---one phase out, T2 and T8-----second phase out, T3 and T9----third phase out. anyway as I mentioned above not all motots have six leads.

my answer--no.

This rotation indicator only works for the "used" motors, not for the brand new one which ,after it is built ,has never ever been tested(energized) in factory. In that case, the new motor can not be a generator to produce electricity after you turn the rotor because the rotor is not magnized, not even partially.

Features
1. Test Button: Turns on the test instrument.
2. ON LED: Illuminates when Test Button
is pressed; indicates the tester is ON
3. CORRECT LED: Indicates that the motor
connections correspond to the direction
of motor rotation
4. INCORRECT LED: Indicates that the
motor connections do not correspond
to the direction of motor rotation

Motor Rotation Operation
1. Press the Test Button. If the green ON LED does not illuminate, replace the battery.
2. Plug the test leads into the corresponding jacks of the test instrument.
3.Connect the three test leads of the test instrument to the terminals or leads of the motor.
4. Press the Test Button and twist the motor shaft in the desired direction of rotation.
• If the CORRECT LED is lit, the connections have been correctly identified. Disconnect the test instrument from the motor.
• If the INCORRECT LED is lit, switch any two leads and repeat Step 4.

#15 雨夜灯光is right!!!,If the motor was not operated by the manufacturer prior to shipment, it will not have residual magnetism and the 5123 will not indicate the direction of motor rotation.
