FUNCTION:
8 T: p3 M6 _! B0 W% ZAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

* Z% }9 J; l6 ~7 G% eDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
. X3 c( y% i# o( z& a• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
1 k( n/ z$ J- D' _& K• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
. t) `* i/ n5 M9 \/ ]; F• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
( {+ B; g6 Z' t8 ]• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
! i3 A& I4 x, D$ Z$ Q( H4 s• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
# \5 k1 O& R8 L' P0 {6 g4 A• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
9 c3 M% k8 `" r: Y• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
4 i2 Y. @+ [# y# K0 W• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
' [$ u3 r- Y5 @8 @" Z* ~9 A4 Z• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
/ X6 o5 ~& \8 l+ t3 Y" M' E• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
1 L3 i5 m& {' O• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
7 b8 s! }4 G5 U' a  h- O7 c+ L; Q, C• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
' H  Z8 C, [# l* j, f• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
