As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

. r9 G4 i1 K; O9 V/ F. ~DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
; g& @" f) U) f. ?) ]Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
) A& _" F( I8 c/ ~; `4 ~• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
5 T" x6 f7 R; G& ~4 T• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
) j1 g8 P7 ?) G; r2 i• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
, o0 a" V$ F5 m) n• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
  s4 R8 Q+ k/ c• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

: H1 |* y% s3 w) e/ v& J; aSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
$ H( ?' v" o1 [* f• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
( A$ X6 t; u5 m9 M6 G• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
, B, w3 a$ q, q) P9 V7 V2 g0 C* b• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
' [" f' F& [. e2 m! Z  W+ F$ T- i/ ?• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
) J* t5 r  r- I4 j5 h+ ^* }• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
' H6 \2 G0 U# {• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
) Q2 y; h4 O" L5 l( g6 L" @  |& N! z• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
