FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

0 q: g( T1 G( c+ ?# z; f7 X1 lEnterprise Data
0 @4 r' w* t2 i• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
# g: w* ]$ t1 c, m4 b6 `* S• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
. p' L" l- h# a  R• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
( n& i" N& C9 K; rBi /Reporting/ETL
2 Q5 z% H3 I/ L( e1 ^# p0 b• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
; }3 \8 ?; R; T) R7 A! W7 @• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
; N2 f; [) ?" Z$ z• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
6 K- H0 @$ s' T) d* a3 R& A• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
7 b' I' l) h' L! h• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

! Y" f4 z9 `$ O$ U: ZSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
! A& x" ^) X3 ?• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
$ e5 G+ ]! H. ]; d' Q) B• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
9 [. h9 Z. J# Q4 I# I• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
2 r9 O3 C; \& e9 ]; J• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
9 ^8 T2 h8 d: ]" i. D• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
$ e( q& E7 v$ l* x! u& x: b• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
1 u* P/ x1 s, {( e9 d( f$ @7 A• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
1 c9 v) R! z, R) |9 r  K• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
