FUNCTION:
3 U- Z  `6 O# Z" l6 F- ~! \As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  T+ E8 e- @. b7 Q4 G6 c• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
* ~8 S" l$ l$ f; b4 h# R3 D5 {. V) }• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
3 @8 z  o; D. u& `6 e• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
8 F( p, J$ J# R9 d. n/ kBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
- T/ ~* u$ q8 b1 V! C! d• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
" p( `  C6 P. P5 U+ P5 H' O* Z• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
# Y9 @8 z7 B" o1 l: y• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
) \$ t; A, F+ O+ s• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
* ^- c4 t6 P' y; e8 b7 c3 c• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
1 X' r& S& D6 I5 a0 j• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
/ v2 D/ `9 _( n" q• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
( [' j" P- z. z# L% P• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
8 _* n! y& `: W+ h6 _( O• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
4 K- q7 F0 ^. n, T/ o3 C• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
