Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

( C. e* N; r4 e4 h) i Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
4 M( R6 q2 t& C/ J1 X5 |5 y+ } Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
  I4 }3 O8 F0 I+ o Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
6 F* J* L1 h, S  R Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
1 K2 A/ c- c1 e3 r7 S+ Z1 ^+ \ Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
0 b  R) |% Z8 L1 x2 p& W$ d Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

; O* a$ D( z/ \Qualifications:
1 [8 z! f& c: w- U( s5 @8 J
 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
+ O7 M6 b7 p. F( y# Y+ s( } Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
$ b  q- `3 v1 }9 S2 I  T Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
