Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.

# N% r" C' c5 e5 o4 `4 t3 g! s"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.

I6 f1 l& k0 A! v% hPatricia Grell, with the Woodcroft area school council, says every school and playground should have lower speed limits.
