City council is considering putting 30-kilometre-an-hour zones around some schools, after pressure from parents.( F6 w1 e+ T" y; y f' ?

Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.

& k9 b! h. c( N' M" ^"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.
