City council is considering putting 30-kilometre-an-hour zones around some schools, after pressure from parents.8 b7 |" i& `7 ^( m# W n% k( z

Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.6 v0 r4 {% v5 U: e
9 v( e6 `- w4 o2 p# q, p"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.
