Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.6 F; j% m& U' f: [3 v+ \

"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.5 R+ w( T8 M6 @* f' j/ }' p
* z7 @- j; G k9 `- Y6 j3 HThe city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.
