City council is considering putting 30-kilometre-an-hour zones around some schools, after pressure from parents.0 {6 f' P4 j" `0 s$ [
' [: U A' r9 Y7 I+ l/ A% eAdministration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.$ ]6 I; O# r( h

"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.5 I7 d: N& g, M- V: r! N7 i( r
$ h" w7 f/ u+ DThe city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.

"People are in a hurry, people are stressed out, they forget the speed limit and our children are very at risk when they are going to these places," she said.
