Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.

# S4 m& B/ H* r4 [* g" }* {"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.* l% z/ x1 Z. P) j* s
