City council is considering putting 30-kilometre-an-hour zones around some schools, after pressure from parents.

Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.( W( s, v8 P; u8 y
* y! Y, S3 h2 O% `"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.4 }; a# W9 g8 ], t

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.
