City council is considering putting 30-kilometre-an-hour zones around some schools, after pressure from parents.$ f9 C" {0 B" q U4 L! X0 Y" k4 o
/ m$ x3 x W% [1 F" ^; lAdministration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.

- H8 N- w3 H1 r& v W"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.

"People are in a hurry, people are stressed out, they forget the speed limit and our children are very at risk when they are going to these places," she said.
