Administration officials have long argued that there is no evidence school speed zones reduce the danger for children.& k7 F* x% n2 i- d

"This is simply adding it to our set of solutions," Rick Millican, general manager of transportation, said. "Council is not saying if they approve it, put a school zone everywhere someone wants on.

The city hasn't used reduced speed limits around schools for more than 20 years.# K3 E# c8 F% O {6 S
8 x/ S+ ?9 K* O0 I' cPatricia Grell, with the Woodcroft area school council, says every school and playground should have lower speed limits.
