Duties
& Z3 ^' }$ g D! E, ZReporting to the Administrator of Information Technology Services (ITS), and working collaboratively with the other members of the unit, the Web Application Developer provides application development support to ensure viable and effective solutions to the business needs of units within the Human Resources portfolio.
* G4 k: g M! \& D3 W5 x2 r5 i, ODevelops web-based applications in support of the business needs of units within the portfolio8 F9 O( {# q0 B
Designs, maintains, and optimizes relational databases used by web-based applications6 x( o1 V- W/ m" A: N t" c; S- i
Provides ongoing support, training and documentation for applications developed in-house" t& i: X! D- l/ ?' ?- L' r$ _
Participates in needs assessments, project management, and software evaluations
1 j8 q- A6 m* [Provides creative design for new and existing websites, including graphics and the development of templates to be used with the HR Content Management System (CMS)! F5 `1 }* a" J$ I5 o
Monitors websites and coordinates with the appropriate individuals and groups to ensure that content is accurate, up-to-date and highly organized2 H8 G4 M7 @9 g1 G. A
Assists in the development of policies and procedures to provide clear direction for users of the CMS

The successful candidate will be required to pursue a consistent program of professional development to maintain technical expertise.5 E! I/ E( r' X; E* I M- o
Two year technical diploma in computer science with a focus on web-based design and database development
$ l. s @6 I: Y8 t o$ i! {Minimum 3 years experience developing dynamic web-based applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, XML" G' l% m0 K, k. p) l9 v1 c
Demonstrated experience with database development and optimization using MS Access and SQL Server 2000; d* U* X9 m1 b& ^7 @
Experience administering IIS and working knowledge of Windows Server environment; experience developing with SharePoint Services and SQL Reporting Services an asset6 K* _% q( d& l# R! J
Proficiency developing web graphics with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; proficiency using Macromedia Flash an asset. {9 ~' A( m0 t D
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and organizational skills
