years, Jim West supported several anti-gay bills, including one that would

9 Z3 q1 B: J9 c$ M1 ^. ~( h3 m6 aabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
* E( E0 i5 m) Uallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
2 l* h. \" l; L  m. L0 Vrelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were

$ I4 L0 t6 X7 Q1 v) X18.

Ted Arthur Haggard (born June 27, 1956) is a former American evangelical
preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
8 C0 o% X, F8 |' ipositions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
( a% v* N+ x- }6 F. v! T) Xsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
& {% f, a! f4 n2 s; S) Qbut as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
9 C- Z0 A3 E  m1 K6 A8 Eimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

7 b, T% ^: j- ]0 W  VAfter the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "

wasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
