He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons

senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
; v( z; z% U# f2 j- p# B" gabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
7 W9 r/ S( N+ t6 S/ Nto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
. n+ C9 `( z  Vallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were

but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
. y" ~6 H4 @: |1 |+ o' r+ x, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
/ I6 \9 j: E7 K3 y6 A# Lministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
+ h) N$ K; p9 Hembrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
- w2 ~3 q" V( Z1 creceive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a
) E$ K5 J- z$ V9 o0 Cyoung male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "
overwhelming pool of evidence [of an] inappropriate, consensual sexual
+ J, p; }3 y0 Orelationship [that] went on for a long period of time [with Haggard] ... it
9 |: R' h/ t3 v) xwasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
