While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these

have banned gays and lesbians from working in schools and day care centers.

( G$ g; I: R. m! y& R8 x  ?3 Iunder the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
regretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state
senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
+ O! m/ Q. o9 `, Q% iand Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
. c) i; C5 S; @4 _. F9 Xto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
: y% H+ a' K3 fallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
% T% S0 W/ \* ~2 D. qrelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied

founder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,

$ a0 U. H% W% A" v, O  pleader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
November 2006.

positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual

but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
  p& T" g7 i& V$ K) r3 E, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those

Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "
overwhelming pool of evidence [of an] inappropriate, consensual sexual

reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
