While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these

have banned gays and lesbians from working in schools and day care centers.
He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
" M3 u, f# |$ Z2 w1 Nregretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state

sexual harassment.

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
, k" t. @& k& F$ _  qabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
$ B- v  m7 Z( F8 Q7 s0 v. }- Callegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

" D; ]% L) ?- a5 j5 T1 ~; \2 Wthe charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
9 B+ D+ ^9 [4 V: h7 oBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
" M8 C+ E+ p4 O$ G5 b1 \. ~, u% Pjust graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
; r) j$ a6 k. M/ I, m2 y' q" }! Xfounder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,
Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
% o4 i% ?2 g" B( P3 msex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

- V" Q- W' e/ e& MAfter the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "
