While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these

He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
7 P7 K+ S! p5 h. ounder the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
( `5 e9 b" n" c2 A" B: ?" i; Lregretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state
) H4 T! f) g" v- O4 Qsenator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
) E6 G- z+ d) T% [" _abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
6 a8 c- e9 X/ K. P# b# J3 sand Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
# ]4 z4 [  S3 k1 q7 Yto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
# t6 U3 ]! n) K- x0 Hallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
7 t8 z7 B9 x0 _% s, H/ N) lrelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
3 ^+ M. A9 B# ~' p& h9 W4 F+ uBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

Ted Arthur Haggard (born June 27, 1956) is a former American evangelical
preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
# q3 n2 G( f% s& T$ ufounder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,
Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
! _& u) Y" y4 k( y" B* sleader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
November 2006.

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
0 y, `& l- h5 {, isex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
* q5 x5 V: X, g' B# \- Uimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

% F1 e- ~% C( D2 l. ~After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
* ~, L( X: T0 J% W2 R  D& T5 Ocounseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "

relationship [that] went on for a long period of time [with Haggard] ... it
wasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
