While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these
years, Jim West supported several anti-gay bills, including one that would

He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
regretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state

sexual harassment.

  v' a! S) ^6 \4 E7 bto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
allegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
6 b/ B% V4 L! i' n7 G4 Fthe charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
6 s2 ?* ?6 [) H0 u7 T; K4 FBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
founder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,

6 }7 s4 e- v; p; Y; Q1 b: o* zleader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
November 2006.

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
  ~, C, l0 u+ o3 g' D* [positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
% p+ `7 t- q/ `$ t! Psex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
# @) G/ e1 Y+ w7 y/ @3 g- U' f, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
$ U# ^1 J. y0 Q8 z9 URalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
4 X+ v' o: |+ yembrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

# J  q1 t" `. N9 fwasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church
reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
