While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these
) }$ o5 N5 P5 w* g& byears, Jim West supported several anti-gay bills, including one that would
have banned gays and lesbians from working in schools and day care centers.
He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
regretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state
senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged
sexual harassment.

West was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
& Q" F8 A; d) m: w9 b6 a: W& l1 C" jand Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
8 h2 Q4 o2 O; w1 Q; E, K+ zallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

Ted Arthur Haggard (born June 27, 1956) is a former American evangelical
. H, M1 M& O; K4 A' M6 A+ ~preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
$ Q* x* b5 G: ]: ^2 ffounder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,
# }! \- _# g! G- Z9 y; {Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
$ Z6 \+ M( v4 K, A) ]$ A0 s" DNovember 2006.

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
7 T# G/ ?- k. g) Bpositions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
3 E! Q# h6 z0 |% q9 l/ i8 p$ gsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
4 C4 j& ]' y& G. l8 q  k% Uimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
' d" s! G6 ~! ^( c7 Lministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
) m7 a. S8 C1 g3 L) I! aRalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
0 T; a  a% n2 s7 v) bembrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "

and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
