While in the legislature he served as Senate Majority Leader. During these
years, Jim West supported several anti-gay bills, including one that would
have banned gays and lesbians from working in schools and day care centers.
He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he
regretted voting for those measures.[1] In 1995, when West was a state
senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
5 m8 C* y, C2 k6 M3 P5 Rto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
allegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
( H' q' r6 r1 d  t+ k4 f: }% v- [relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

West confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

Ted Arthur Haggard (born June 27, 1956) is a former American evangelical
$ \! ~, o3 V; ^* E  bpreacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the

Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
7 g) U* L( I7 F3 B: m5 J0 R# tpositions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
0 x( \! Z: p/ h5 [  Ysex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
& e" ^4 i5 h/ t' ubut as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
2 a9 @# r: N; Z8 x% h, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
  K% a# h8 A' I! Q8 kimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

3 l; S3 l' _. T6 E5 rAfter the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
8 }) o" s5 h0 ^: {2 iministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
( A8 O! ]8 f0 m' a/ fRalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
3 [5 j7 H; L8 n7 P4 p" `embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
