He also proposed a law that would ban all sexual activity among persons
under the age of 18 (the bill failed). He would later admit that he

senator, he advocated the impeachment of then-Gov. Mike Lowry for alleged

6 a* l$ y- i/ KWest was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
' T0 X9 m; j8 q, wabusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
8 s5 W, g) l+ X+ s) |) dand Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
1 f6 f3 G5 n8 O' g" l0 \+ ~6 fto lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
allegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
3 }" F9 _- y6 J4 p  ~! P! ]! h: }relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

% G, F2 O0 M+ k, G) d9 EWest confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
# Z) x5 z* e0 M, e; l: lBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

Ted Arthur Haggard (born June 27, 1956) is a former American evangelical

founder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,
Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was

7 p9 u% z2 [: C" w( O% spositions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
) Y, ?- {' @% Wsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
& w( s2 u9 _+ m  Eimmorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
+ V: D! k3 m2 Z! L# E; ~9 C: nministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
5 ^4 y, i( t5 yRalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
" x" V2 ]* M2 i9 P0 n! b: b9 q. dembrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a
young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "

reached a six figure settlement with the man, who was in his early 20s at
the time.[78] According to the man, he said the contact was "not consensual"
