( I; @1 C9 n- E1 q+ h" SWest was involved in a sex scandal in 2005. He was accused of sexually
abusing two young boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he was a sheriff's deputy
and Boy Scout leader. He was also accused of misusing his office as mayor
to lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
0 {: J4 x; Z' t7 _0 [allegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
relationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

; m+ R6 b2 J9 U' @% bWest confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
( _9 Z& C: y* w1 Z/ }8 vBiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
just graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
18.

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the

1 k5 \6 \. M( T  |Colorado; a founder of the Association of Life-Giving Churches; and was
5 U; _3 X* g7 X, g, [leader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until
November 2006.

% N! r3 B. V/ Wsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
' }* Q5 H3 K3 ?& [% I+ e3 S, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
ministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
6 d# ?" p+ a& CRalph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
embrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a

overwhelming pool of evidence [of an] inappropriate, consensual sexual
relationship [that] went on for a long period of time [with Haggard] ... it
