Wages increased in October…
# X! v; ~# Z5 ~" N. gAlberta’s average weekly earnings rose 1.6% in October to a seasonally adjusted $1012.54 following a slight decline of 0.3% in September. The increase was driven by the service sector, as gains were recorded in the arts, entertainment and recreation industry as well as in the management of companies (up to 12% each). The other western provinces, British Columbia (1.6%), Saskatchewan (3.4%), and Manitoba (0.8%), all had positive growth in average weekly earnings. On a year-to-date basis, average weekly earnings in Alberta were up 4.4% in October, exceeding the Canadian average of 3.5%. Alberta’s average weekly earnings remain the highest in Canada. |
