Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
$ G0 S7 g1 {* N. s" q( y8 f- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
7 @2 Y2 I2 G( [- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- m: H8 {! N- ?) _! }5 r8 K0 w- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- a& j* y; }- a- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
% O( O# d6 c  K5 m# x- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
" m3 o* [, l6 {) h) X0 q- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
2 q, P* r9 s+ g) S( Q! y- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
4 N9 F5 x, `( r- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license
) {3 f: O7 Q7 m: j+ _2 }( z

Salary
  B6 E8 T& o; |7 Q) `# p- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
