you should always remove the old top layer for a number of reasons.

the old under layer can be removed or you can leave it in depanding on its condition. if you want to remove it, it's a lot of physical labour work.4 N2 g3 C! i1 H( H
0 x' n: A: \" x8 M6 j4 xinstalling the new carpet is very easy, but again it's a lot of physical labour. carpets are a lot heavier than most people think. plus, you'll need to do your own measurements, cutting, transportation of new/old material, etc.
