EDMONTON - All three ousted candidates in the Alberta Tory leadership race have now thrown their support behind front-runner Gary Mar.

Battle River-Wainwright MLA Doug Griffiths was the latest to join Mar’s camp on Tuesday, following endorsements from Ted Morton and Rick Orman a day earlier.

. e8 S! j- O( b1 P. s“Gary’s views are similar to mine when it comes to building a better Alberta,” Griffiths told media assembled at Mar’s Edmonton campaign headquarters on Whyte Avenue. “We need to pull the province together, and I think Gary has the skills to do that. Mar got 41 per cent of the votes during Saturday’s first ballot, giving him a wide edge on Alison Redford (18 per cent) and Doug Horner (14 per cent). The three remaining candidates will now head toward a second ballot on Oct. 11 ^/ D0 [3 c, B3 ~& Y+ J6 a

Griffiths said he took a day to think about his options after Saturday’s disappointing result, which saw him finish sixth. He said his supporters are free to support anyone they want but he thinks about two-thirds of his volunteers have agreed to follow him to Mar’s camp.
