Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging positions of Full time Transit Operator - for positions starting in the Winter 2011/2012. Successful applicants are entitled to benefits after 90 days.

Please note: Only those candidates who most closely match the job requirements, skills and competencies will be selected.

FUNCTIONS: While providing excellent customer service you will:
•Transport passengers to destinations on prescribed scheduled routes while adhering to schedules
•Monitor proper fares and issue transfers
•Operate a Transit diesel / diesel-electric buses, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather and traffic conditions
•Ensure the safety of all passengers by obeying and following defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws, Transit system regulations, and The Alberta Traffic Safety Act
•Communicate effectively in a variety of situations including customer queries regarding transit information
•Deal with diverse and challenging situations

Qualifications:•Completion of grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset
•Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public
•Applicant must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) or operators licensing equivalent recognized by the Operator Licensing and Vehicle Control Regulation, Alta. Reg. 320/2002 and must have held a valid operator's license for three (3) consecutive years
•Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (safely operate a bus and its controls, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.)
•Ability to pass pre-employment testing
•Applicants, invited to pre-employment testing, must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the test date) showing no suspensions (including convictions in regards to insurance or suspension of registry services) and no more than 3 demerits applied against the applicants Provincial Motor Vehicle Licence over the previous 2 year period (demerits applied do not include any demerits reduced by a Defensive Driver Course) Ability to pass a Police Security clearance for working with vulnerable persons including the vulnerable sector search, prior to training

•Ability to pass a physical strength evaluation and a pre-employment City medical examination prior to training
•Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at own expense, prior to training
•Successful completion of the ETS Training Program
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

•Ability to transport passengers safely, in a timely manner and communicate effectively with them in a variety of situations
•Ability to ensure your own safety and that of your passengers on a preventative basis and during an emergency
•Ability to safely operate every vehicle in our fleet and check it for operational readiness prior to entering service
•Ability to balance your work responsibilities with your family priorities and your personal wellness
•Contribute to Edmonton Transits' professional image by demonstrating responsible and ethical behavior in all of your activities
•Apply clear thinking to select the best course of action to resolve problems or conflicts
Hours of Work: Various hours of shift work (straight or split), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week.
First year: guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours biweekly. Thereafter: guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly.
Please note:  The shift work will have an impact on your personal life. We recommend that all applicants consider this aspect of the position seriously.

Salary Range:  401, Salary Grade: 004 Training Rate: $18.997(Hourly); Post Training Rate: $ 23.351- $29.188 (Hourly). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton. This union contract is currently under negotiation.

5号牌可以申请么?

应该是有高级5好牌的才可以申请。过程相当于过五关斩六将一样：

1.  先投简历，简历如果通过，进入下一步。
2.  安排上机能力测试，测试所有题目必须答完，没有答完的就fail了，答完的，如果有前后相似的题目回答的前后矛盾，也是fail。如果测试通过，进入下一步。
3.  面试。如果面试通过，会当即填写一些资料，并准备体检。体检通过（会几天后告诉结果），进入下一步。
4.  通知培训时间，开始为期6周的2号牌培训。期间两周后2号牌测试。测试通过，继续后续培训。2号牌测试未通过，sorry，回家吧，没你啥事了。
