• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed) I* {0 q2 a/ T* }0 w# U
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
1 d* z. y& w5 p1 u: f• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
/ f2 m9 |5 ^2 E6 P% r! b. P3 D• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams# o" N1 r# F/ ^( H5 W* U
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
) m; t4 C: o- Q3 D• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment6 H# n6 v* R: b3 N
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools1 j+ G/ T) G! V0 A9 F
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting
' k4 M/ g0 J3 O5 b4 l- z• Mix paint, blend and match colors5 @7 v' J! d; x: T
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
/ Y. G9 E3 ]) J2 D• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
: B) t" V& x: w. O! g• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation

& n: X6 A- G. ?" @0 y( V• Completion of secondary school is required& P8 q9 c q5 w
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program ; j2 d0 o/ H' `9 U
or$ g Q- ~: b3 q9 y9 ~3 m1 J9 \
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade * ^" j) Q/ Y' d) @8 b$ q, _" K
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
