/ G( B4 e- @8 G- i, ?& H- W/ D# h' g. f' T0 C! ]
        1. I couldn't care less.
3 l2 ], N/ b- t/ r3 R
" i* ]+ l$ j5 c5 A  x  这句话的意思是“我不在乎”,“缺乏兴趣”(lack of interest),也就是:I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如:
* W. m+ |% P' g3 M- W9 i4 X
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) / A* S# P3 X" E5 ^, O
: S7 O1 I) v/ U9 A7 l7 ^
) j  z+ v# L) I- p& ]; `; U
) I! q2 q0 [3 t- ?3 b7 d" n5 Y" q  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
! f. r6 t0 E, Y2 {' y+ t" n. e* v4 A7 q" N3 Z0 F9 Z
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
( [1 K8 {; J7 B1 Q5 g9 v% D0 s8 e# q9 x% \
9 \' D1 w8 Z: D' u. k, l4 |( i3 D% R
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 9 L; q, Q6 O8 U

Yes, you do(care). ; F* a7 R- `4 k' ~3 c% M2 I
, \% X( p& Z4 n5 F1 j
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
" w, \' F3 a; K+ ~8 Z5 {
, z6 B0 N  \0 Z) w+ I# Y- J0 L5 u  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
, @2 t" d0 |/ y& n6 K0 V) s
4 l$ K. e# _( ~  p- h  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
# T2 {% K5 {. c0 s; J# r, r1 E- S
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. 6 b1 k& I) a& ]$ P2 ]7 \! \! Z

$ L: F/ B1 K% }* {/ o8 x9 ?, ?5 p3 Z) A
  I couldn't be more wrong. 9 K" q5 m, W$ i( Z6 j
. M6 w! f! l' v
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
* T# Q. @2 S- v! b+ C$ V" v0 ]" |: i& |$ y% O
  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) 8 a/ k* S, F' |0 R6 q$ F' t" D1 ]
' p$ x4 x" t3 U1 ~  e$ q$ K& g
  2. No bones about it.
+ y6 {6 m# N3 Z# R5 Q+ Y  R, A: u( h. M: x1 R
  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
$ K5 v: i1 a+ [- P# }/ f2 X/ Y& \/ B; ]# d4 F
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
! S* F% s+ R' \' T- i
* D! z- }; y1 b% Q  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) 1 Y0 k/ R4 p9 p

* ^2 m; s9 @& U+ W  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 9 F- v; F, t! f; }' t4 Q( q. I) ]2 O

7 H; \  z! k- n! G, t5 _  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) 0 G1 e* C: Q& f# O" i
6 C% _% t2 `* v$ j, m6 }
  3. take it on me!
; A( S& U" X. l. D' o/ z- B) K' g3 w3 w  ^5 f6 `& L/ ?! B* g+ O! y
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: : S4 y  Q2 c/ X( n

1 ~" o1 q) _" r" k* W  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy) ( B) ~. y' x+ W: a) `. t) B+ L! g

. x# A* H( w, G$ k4 _  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
0 M: a& d* O; W; B# T, T( Y, h' c; b. {
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) & f9 q4 d; g- t4 v3 {9 e
6 c; v% r/ l* k" K& F" S
  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。 ; P7 @- C8 c# {
, f" D8 H5 `& W4 b/ ]+ M" o
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) % S# R( l& }3 g! c
# m* s: _4 o8 x1 g6 R. Q
  4. I am from Missouri.
, I4 _+ d' i  S* F3 u& s, F# J  M) u
  j7 Y: w9 U  E: t  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 2 @: b. b2 r5 b
* s0 n& j! s, P  x! y6 k
. L, h. X6 M6 I1 d( ~- l+ C1 f
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
9 x: Y" H( X8 h' ]4 x9 e" F. D' B5 h
* _7 o0 q% @! G) N  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。) 4 T# P8 r/ p& `& ]& ^1 J
! M9 S& g3 G# R1 W- \9 u
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
" L& T6 |* G, v+ d. [
/ D; ~/ J. J' L  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
