Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
4 y! w7 w+ ?8 m/ d+ L2 tnot do any of the following:
, R6 z& T- E1 X/ |# z3 ]; S(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
6 U8 \; n* E3 u' u& V ]) X2 Kvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
8 Z) E* c* y f$ U" a" @8 Q(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor) G8 Z$ V" D3 C
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;) J8 N5 x/ V: z" l
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
! x$ e+ _2 n3 i* f+ ]' _" bpermit another person
/ M8 Y; D' m3 K" f(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or; t& W% T! N6 b# r. B
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,! |6 \, ^, o( R& o" W7 Z0 d* ^
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# c; [8 y+ ^2 I/ I6 S
(d) give or lend a financial
! s) ]6 H- l* ?: J. `/ o% G; M5 m# Oresponsibility card or a copy of it% e2 M" p$ s# g1 F
to a person not entitled to have that financial6 j2 S* b- R9 Y( o/ D
responsibility card or copy.9 \, X$ N8 {1 o

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
; ^2 X: b* m4 u$ c: F$ Nwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
3 G( C& T( b* y& T, pthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
" _5 @ M: m* s9 }(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is7 Y; C3 I, I" X- P6 V6 ~, l

A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection5 |' _2 W" Q1 W* j% ?6 J) |3 |# R
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,! S6 v" Z1 o5 \0 r) A
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
0 S2 F" D4 P7 i* qand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to( W, ?* r5 r F% z
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
0 |( Q! @& C! T% W7 ^; M/ Z, Pmore than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
