$ J, i9 ?4 J$ f2 EExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall- R* D8 f( N9 ]2 S0 V6 I# I# ]
not do any of the following:* s, Y m; G- B+ f. y$ {5 Y, s! A6 Q
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor/ G, V; }& X+ _* T/ U. J) {
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
" e3 r! x1 U3 [# @3 a2 J/ r2 A9 ~(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor4 D9 M J {6 R+ `4 ?
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
) p# D$ r% z( L' E2 Y; K* a(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,5 V, {% V5 H1 }* O- C
permit another person: }/ r0 _$ I8 R# k8 G& s) x& x
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
' P8 [+ c5 S2 s- d: n(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,0 A9 `4 {# a& A/ S+ u" {9 ~
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;( u" a0 H5 l- s4 a0 U2 F' u7 l: S
(d) give or lend a financial
$ Q! `7 U5 f% a9 Sresponsibility card or a copy of it
0 H9 U5 R, G% F8 w% Dto a person not entitled to have that financial

3 ^3 B( F4 D( h$ wIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
' `0 i6 `3 z I3 p/ ^( Ewithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
+ B# y: j/ l! Q5 |9 U' M: o1 c7 j& Fthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection* R& d0 w# R( C# G$ a( |6 T$ F
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is: H0 F4 t5 b$ q% j
not an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
0 [# q& t; [# h& dAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a. s' o, G5 t. l' |
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the

3 R1 \# s# W, Q/ j5 g8 ]; Sby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy6 s; ~! ?. e2 t$ _6 q8 x+ e
outside Alberta.0 Q- D5 Y0 x& ?) M% L& K9 T8 d
(4) _8 A6 g8 g0 B
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
* h* m6 M. V9 N, n+ {$ t9 x(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,$ |' j4 O7 [( T; ~) A
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25002 |0 V# }) t# `. v% W4 p# j
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to5 ]7 A, s) Q2 |" ?
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not, q# b; E) X S9 i! ?" D
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
