(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor! n% Y4 c. l- k, }; g( H" A. w
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
0 `: a% D/ E3 C% s8 c U(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
. Y& l" N) k- w8 {vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;7 D1 x; w1 j& j+ K" ~& ^0 |2 \
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,* j0 x7 n( X- |6 z# z
permit another person B0 |8 J* q' e7 s# A
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
4 d6 f' G$ H# F(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,# d% n5 z# J' k" |
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
2 d0 z3 k: c2 G$ x( i* t$ a0 Q(d) give or lend a financial
0 A6 y% `# M# Y; O" }& Gresponsibility card or a copy of it2 u% U; R: ^7 e) q: l3 m# g4 H
to a person not entitled to have that financial
7 b7 a) ^; {2 V& g, W( p1 Mresponsibility card or copy. j% R# ^. J1 o

& j- k" l- O. D3 f' h* GIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
1 d, T; D: B9 r4 ywithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
7 C% J) ?' j% {. H& Qthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection& o) t$ m4 T4 t+ q2 \7 N5 Q
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
% M! v) L: L5 h; Znot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
! e% T, ^8 {: Y0 a, W0 yAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this3 J: O6 J$ } `

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a- ]* v [5 t! i# t+ L) C- G
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
' k) s0 \# X9 X4 T2 H+ SInsurance Act3 {9 y' U/ E6 @. y+ Q
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy K3 F/ h7 w" G% g+ ]
outside Alberta.% Z) V; q6 X* `+ t
(4)" z1 p! v6 C0 `6 d
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection9 _7 |1 C6 p4 x/ {$ h# j; K
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,5 o& _3 r5 o0 ?. H3 ?
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500. _( v3 y- O* t
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to; _. H. L0 ^9 y( T; y; e
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
* R# `& ^6 P9 F" \# I2 ~3 [more than 6 months

- E( r( q N* `& X" xMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
