4 Q. J( y) N3 b. T9 [Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
* U; g. i. N* t$ T! Enot do any of the following:
) G9 o+ u |3 J* j9 R* k0 O1 y(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
! j4 j/ V% E: c% Hvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
4 v* A0 f. V, _; S. I(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
2 z1 J# | @# O5 Z* @' r) ~0 T Ovehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# r+ q# U- p- n* H) J, |0 b/ M% E/ k
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,- X- p h1 D' F) X. j
permit another person/ V2 Y5 l7 B2 O% b1 v$ S. Y
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or( \+ |9 t4 r+ u; x. m/ I
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
5 ]0 Z$ @( D, J6 Eunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
, z* N/ B: U, W5 v(d) give or lend a financial
% T* P0 P7 _* J* Jresponsibility card or a copy of it
# m! Z/ b; S( D8 A1 V4 Lto a person not entitled to have that financial: @# b/ \, T* J+ \/ z7 C
responsibility card or copy.

+ i/ b4 O! K/ I! hIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway6 p- a4 S: h8 |; ^& z
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of* j& d8 T% U" u8 d" k
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection! I& ]3 [' L- D, l0 g
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
" V9 K" @8 S6 h% m; B4 @# pnot an insured motor vehicle.: k9 Z& W4 x6 s: J- t

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this6 [& e5 l) ]8 A, |' R
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this5 G2 p/ |& e9 C

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
. F3 u+ d& z2 I0 T3 Xfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the, p) q7 p$ X( T/ T- R$ ?8 f
Insurance Act
6 k# f" N/ g* ?( D/ L# ^2 `3 R' Eby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
F( Y8 r1 f( m( ]# houtside Alberta.

+ M4 O" u9 p# j0 g. RA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection# t9 s8 a- T& o& ~- {
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable," W/ }3 n: N/ R* a y# Z
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500) x3 p9 T4 v2 h7 d
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to& d9 z2 m$ @# I4 x# ~
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
