(1)
. G: ?0 s+ ~6 T3 ]! d( dExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall

(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor) c7 O: z) K& Z) _
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# D; F/ j. o+ j3 }7 _7 {# ]* v
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
' ~/ [$ M8 B* L& ivehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
+ P8 c; [+ |' U6 a(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,

! @! _7 k4 R" U3 v) X8 X9 T( N(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or' h* R- ?8 x6 Z1 j8 P4 ^9 l9 a) m
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
7 B, M! S3 x J5 l4 {( |; H% xunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

4 \$ J/ c5 ~- e9 K0 |0 `% eresponsibility card or a copy of it% Z& n; p1 K* i
to a person not entitled to have that financial3 x: a; u$ r# ~0 }, Y: @* W

' c o3 `2 H8 v6 R. d' uIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
# X' j) x5 N! i- H% J# lwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
1 a; c* Y5 g$ h3 O" Y" y3 h, Mthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection5 e( q3 ~, z5 h" A" L
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this% l! \2 q" k4 s! N; L9 I

1 C0 k& C3 W8 o7 ^Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a3 h, }, L6 j6 M9 l- V
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
0 R- z' h9 D& q2 G1 uInsurance Act- ^" I! H0 x( Q' O
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
+ J' k' @4 D: D7 coutside Alberta.- ?3 |2 N9 b1 @. ~

% P' L0 G1 S" ?$ l- u! q: fA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
# T6 e [7 h, g(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,9 s; j0 k# y- O9 z2 B! a M/ {" i) C' \
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25000 o0 }3 ]6 K# }/ H/ s% @% ]2 K
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
% i; U6 S( `9 Rimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not9 g3 D2 R$ R* }( P3 |: W
more than 6 months

2 {: z) n5 n) WMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
