6 G8 Q' _! }4 x* X$ dExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
& {) h f: K. w+ d- K1 O8 Qnot do any of the following:3 j7 ^( m u+ v6 v& z4 E
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor) C) e, T' T; g. v6 G7 C
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
# ~. ~( o; S* e4 G5 e(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor V* s+ Q+ g. b
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;" }. S0 e% T e+ F* D
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,0 Z0 u) P) [7 I. {: ?- I
permit another person1 U* ?& |9 w" z' {1 d0 V& ]% @" H
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
* [0 @. }3 U- g: a8 O& B1 `(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
) J. L* w0 B+ X/ bunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;9 ~8 j& L. t2 Y
(d) give or lend a financial
5 q8 J) O7 B& q5 `; C- Q+ J0 Wresponsibility card or a copy of it
% ^+ U9 U0 r' P* A7 Vto a person not entitled to have that financial( N# G- m2 Y3 U, T: }$ S
responsibility card or copy.

. D2 L, {! I% ZIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
) [7 ]0 a5 h8 _8 p4 v+ E7 owithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of6 f1 L4 i' O6 d0 r* E4 S* m
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection" x8 n' ` n1 {; P, ]" Y t
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is; U$ J6 x7 z) w: c W! P( Q
not an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this+ d$ s- G0 U0 R8 K6 k- d; o
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this. M2 Z2 H8 m, h V! B9 _# v7 f$ P
section.

+ V% C/ o" U2 u. k7 eSubsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
2 y" g N0 \ w& a5 Dfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
% Y( {) S* k* n2 h+ iInsurance Act
& i0 C5 V0 \# {/ Mby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy: o% T" k- j N: V Q. r9 H
outside Alberta.

. s* U7 v( T) IA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection- t0 _$ _ j" h. m/ t5 R
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
' m) J7 E- q4 D$ d3 a(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500( [: O; N+ a; Y* u
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
- M5 }$ x6 T. q! _% i# jimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not. K- [" V# E6 r
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
