Except as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall% }1 C- ~; f+ [. \" B
not do any of the following:% Y/ z/ l! t8 m3 q( j
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
; n/ B+ J9 l: v: |' Evehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
7 h: ?3 |( n" N, s(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor8 l( V' y* I- j6 U% l2 i
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;8 r; j5 U$ i! ~8 Q3 d
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,7 s5 ^8 R$ z$ L
permit another person
; X( h- P9 x7 M& F(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or+ W0 m) ~% n( |6 }8 x4 R
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
- ?% S, U8 `8 `/ L9 y8 Y/ Punless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
- e p9 O1 K9 {7 s' o$ C(d) give or lend a financial ^' ]: }) b6 @/ o" o4 B$ a
responsibility card or a copy of it" q; G: b6 P ^4 w
to a person not entitled to have that financial2 v" P9 e6 M+ V
responsibility card or copy.

! m& C: w/ g3 w) D1 K( s0 o* b( WIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway% q7 m9 u' h) J* W* _% P
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
4 A9 p9 l8 l3 I. d; ythe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
1 d8 R$ T3 M0 a2 a; ?# ~(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
9 L1 q6 q# a. inot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
" t7 y7 r |$ HAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the0 F, ? w8 p8 P% C( o
Insurance Act

( j7 ]8 ]. ^4 C(4)9 t: V3 S* S, C: J: D
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
" F$ l4 T$ Q8 e& s, \+ L( ~1 B(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
. Y/ R$ Z1 ?5 Z5 s$ h6 O(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
- m) z. \4 o0 yand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to4 n" D8 k' u; ?0 F, j& I2 e) D1 Z$ s
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
9 ^) y8 e% ~' _. |more than 6 months
* e- U! T7 Q! n# U3 w- zMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
