; L; y6 ?- \7 P jnot do any of the following:
% W# N( K! v; `- I( L5 k(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
0 F) l, a! [$ G( U3 g; d6 b; avehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
3 _& I1 t; v7 H8 b(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
% M8 y5 G$ a! P; j' \vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
5 u3 \3 U# ?8 F. ] l; B" P(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,& m% U0 _& R* y: {
permit another person: j. T4 Y1 _8 F6 {- K( _/ l7 H) L
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or, y& w ^( H, X8 T7 n
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,1 M" S4 Q% }8 k0 i
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

responsibility card or a copy of it9 _0 O) W& `6 Y9 f' i
to a person not entitled to have that financial: t" E: x: T4 {) b' x5 f* H# b; n

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway/ s2 F3 Q2 B* T. i1 D! |
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
$ Y% |! F, w4 H' g7 _the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
5 | Z* f9 t2 t2 V5 T( {(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
0 W5 h5 P9 u$ Y* Anot an insured motor vehicle.1 t, g9 Q* B+ H P+ Z# c% U
(2)' k9 W/ m' f; H! Z$ @1 }
If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
4 N& h, F2 B) m9 c! W: lAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this7 m0 C" j' [0 G( P! f5 [
section.
3 a5 {# S: m/ e, v; B$ U d5 {2 m(3)$ ]% T# P6 a7 c
Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a" b( L+ R+ L3 v' \
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the8 O3 |# i F# c# {1 L, z
Insurance Act9 V8 w8 |( s3 G) y+ X
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy% P% j8 _5 {7 j) u& h$ }
outside Alberta.
% E. G8 z" E8 p' R(4)4 k. x" ^% H9 A9 t
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection; V+ X9 Y* W: O$ ^( g( `
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
: H$ m/ B/ r& t# Y# Z9 ^(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25001 p/ l6 Z8 \1 o& m4 f x8 P' X a
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to) o: q0 }: g5 P. v
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
8 x2 J* F5 H& `more than 6 months
* ?3 s# a( O( Y* k, x6 U5 _: WMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
