(1)
6 X- V* l" J, q4 NExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
/ r; Z( H* r7 ]5 unot do any of the following:, _" W$ v y& o- D
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
% U9 P# {4 ^- A' e" uvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;* G ~6 s$ U5 B" N; P& Q
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor$ H2 V; l# a! h6 p3 h8 i& ?
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
6 ?# }5 t; P4 x/ B* j(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,+ ~; F+ d) k# ]( f5 ^- R0 w) @ ^
permit another person k7 t9 a, L0 i/ _
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or+ q& S5 V0 J* x5 ?- o9 H/ m
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
8 N% ^9 z' D5 m- |; \unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;) N% D3 j% p+ S. n' ]/ f' h8 f
(d) give or lend a financial, K0 J5 |0 s% |: _$ E
responsibility card or a copy of it$ [; s2 { S- I/ h x7 |7 }$ {
to a person not entitled to have that financial
5 j* n' j8 \) x! ]; x; Vresponsibility card or copy.

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
; _5 `" e j7 n3 L6 Cwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
1 G) B4 r& y2 H, p& vthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
* p' o' T! U" N2 C5 F; C1 d4 S, {(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
; N* o) }& y1 S# W6 o( }- cnot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this, S+ |& l6 Q: T1 C! ]$ S* A
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this* }6 H7 P8 H. h) f/ b: S6 Q. S; V

) C5 n% P6 c i& z% ^' F, ^A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
: u& W5 U2 r: S(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,7 k, S0 G I- x1 X/ \: n
(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500 J g+ Z L4 h M
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
) ?" q' b: o; N* n8 U% ^imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
" b0 ^6 ^, \' ymore than 6 months

% k$ f5 v4 a- X: }/ }# N4 B- PMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
