6 A0 [" o7 t0 t$ @not do any of the following:
% |5 W+ x; o( d" f a(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
1 B/ t$ h. F9 N5 S, Z+ W3 Kvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;4 K5 N e1 x4 g& h$ W( q* F
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor$ s& R+ }& |2 w0 {" L, z8 b$ S
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
( \7 U- u. G# N* i8 o(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,7 ]/ c! n7 R X+ \
permit another person$ r" l) ?0 o% J
(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or1 }) y$ h2 d2 g0 Q6 d$ L
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,+ G4 R3 l3 ~, \
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;. Q& ]5 G! `; Y4 w+ Q3 j4 f; Y
(d) give or lend a financial, A6 F: y4 u- u2 ?" ]3 A/ J u
responsibility card or a copy of it0 m6 E1 R% M, w) J1 B; n1 `9 K
to a person not entitled to have that financial

% M/ M9 G2 ~" g- YIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
" r8 j9 a( @+ M* I4 O* o" \* Cwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
$ s4 W6 G5 A/ Z- V0 i! F) Vthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection8 S' _* r; M' Y
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
) e! [3 y- I q# J, p' \/ g; Wnot an insured motor vehicle.' W( q2 n8 `! h) E z/ Q# T& R4 E: }

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this# u2 E8 N2 E$ `1 R
Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this/ ~- E2 h& C+ g2 H
section.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
1 {! w) k' [ f/ D1 cfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the. b' |6 L& l2 r" K
Insurance Act/ E# \% J3 N" n
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
7 Q- H7 ^" A+ u! N0 C6 r$ c8 `outside Alberta.
- R, H- B. D: O. W* e' A(4)
2 e5 M) V) w% Y# e2 {' V7 \2 BA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
% z8 @; ^2 E; V7 V% H, j(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
; Z9 O8 z2 e8 O(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500- K8 u- L7 C6 K7 a0 {
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
# k/ I$ K* Z/ g7 f3 q limprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
7 V; q" q* ~$ P# g8 ~0 j$ d3 Ymore than 6 months
3 i3 |' d! t) {" C1 q0 A( i$ HMinimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
