% g* f( [( X, p* f- [7 wExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
+ S. x7 g+ T5 U+ i' O1 l- ynot do any of the following:1 v. s& U1 r3 z9 Y
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
+ G: k0 `2 O& f% q% l" P) a/ I6 xvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
5 Y5 E. X2 G0 C6 C(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
}$ O) n& G! s" A" ~. B7 fvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;5 q3 v/ o; B4 H# r z7 E
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,

(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or

unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;( j1 @& J' }" {) X& e h
(d) give or lend a financial3 G5 R3 D% Z( j2 q
responsibility card or a copy of it0 p: X- B+ s" b* Q1 x @5 K
to a person not entitled to have that financial
' O& C i9 q2 jresponsibility card or copy.6 g/ E0 U! Z. k/ b% b# u- E

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
" V; F$ o8 W# [" `7 P1 Vwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of# W6 Z' D5 o' f) L
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection N. [ M* ~: z: \ \+ Z- W! m+ y
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
+ X" N" b/ k+ e- e2 Tnot an insured motor vehicle.

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this
* c# Y( H- K; y) @: K! h7 jAct, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
2 X8 j) s k5 o) a, qfinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the
0 a3 Q1 a' o- FInsurance Act9 ^9 q) v: n0 u# P" ~
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
% K s8 j3 z) ?3 f! ?outside Alberta. ^% R8 o: H: h- N5 S2 m
(4); D% p E% c3 X' O6 _
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
0 C, e0 f: M1 Z' E6 L# y8 F(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
7 ~; y2 n* d& O; t(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25009 ]. Q$ d. ]( r0 ~
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
) X) u) m( N. j. r/ Z* s; }1 `7 \imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not6 v" }+ Z- q6 ~
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
