5 H# b" I4 K% C# IExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall

(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor

(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor7 l4 C0 i8 e w, p" }: ^
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;6 f9 J+ N3 J! M- x5 ?! v
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,5 C$ p. q9 Y1 {3 S3 i8 q
permit another person
) t) n0 K* [: k0 \8 R6 B4 G(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
3 X5 R! F6 B0 z& u# j5 U(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,2 f2 I/ e$ w8 D- s
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

responsibility card or a copy of it

responsibility card or copy.

0 V& V8 o. U( L {( d, t7 C% {If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway m" Q( e3 h3 H8 t3 G
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
" k ]4 e# h; S7 U) b3 P: T, tthe vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection# r, ~4 `8 u$ S* i% g. J
(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is( h. _: D1 W5 i( ]" ]
not an insured motor vehicle.1 _) S' L- Q8 B) N5 K- {

Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a

; o' S% a& w0 Q1 c+ z9 I" ?- Fby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy

- x2 E( A: \" R- F/ Q5 B; {& x3 ]' xA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection0 a: C0 C3 P1 v, [
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
7 m' ^' \2 g( Q# I1 i(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $25005 q. T$ n: h( \* i
and not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to! |4 p, s5 }- p
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not$ L) `6 e4 O5 N+ N) }
