The Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit (AFETC) is a program funded by the Alberta government to help working families provide for their children. The AFETC supports families financially and encourages self-reliance and stability. Over the 2011-12 benefit year, the Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit provided about $114 million in tax relief to about 137,000 Alberta families.% S5 @$ V: ]! y0 u8 \1 n

The program has two objectives:
% C. m* i6 t( }' R◾to support children in low and middle income families, and ; _' i. k h0 Z" H0 m
◾to provide incentive for the parents of these children to continue to work.

Who is Eligible? ' ?8 z' |" v2 O) S- `( {

If you meet the following criteria, you qualify for the AFETC:
: O7 D; Y* a- w" A9 i3 Y M9 N4 `4 t◾Resident of Alberta for at least one month, 0 s8 i+ `) V. `" d1 j
◾Parent of one or more children under 18,
6 b1 z4 ]. i% L; r9 F◾More than $2,760 annual family working income, and . W) i7 t4 U) ^+ I% X/ f
◾A family net income of less than $53,725 for families with one child, $70,275 for families with two children, $80,200 for families with three children, and $83,500 for families with four or more children.

" {* y- K, }4 ZYou could receive up to a maximum of $1,919 for your family for the twelve month period beginning July 2013. The maximum amounts (as of July 1, 2013) are as follows:
