Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market. , g- x* F" U7 ]# U; C
Immigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents. - C4 _. E" ?# A1 m2 Y

In the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items.

% [- x) x! n4 F- V& s! [“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women.
