1. never let that happen. It simply is wrong. And it can be avoided.

3. On icy roads or any road you are not so sure, you should drive at the speed you feel comfortable in general. And especially when you don't have ABS with some very old types of cars, if you are driving much slower than the speed limit or than other cars around you, just put on the emergency lights. And you should slow down much earlier before any stop you anticipated no matter if it is with ABS or not.4 ?3 ~3 G: M1 k- c% q
4. If it is without ABS, you need to slow down much much earlier. Don't touch either accelerator or brake first, in that way, the car will be slowed. Can't touch the brake at all until it is very slow (I don't know and I guess most people don't know how to steer when the car is skidding), otherwise, your car will skid, lose control and change the direction. I was told to switch to lower gears or neutral to help slow down the car but I have never really tried. You need to do some practice by yourself, knowing how to put your right foot as your intuition is often to put you foot on the brake if not on the accelerator (to avoid wrongly using brake when getting nervous), and what speed is ok for using the brake even just pumping the brake (dian sha) before driving on icy road. You may figure out some of your own ways.
0 ^- X z; C8 \' L5. If it is with ABS, still needs to slow down much earlier if you are inexperienced, and press the brake normally to lower the speed as usual so the car should already be slowed and then press firmly, very firmly when you can't stop. Not so sure if the car can lose control when the speed is fast even with ABS. But in your situation, when your car is not fast, you should try to press the brake steadily and firmly.
0 {+ K4 H: F' }+ E. z7 K6. Always be alert about the surroundings. Is there a car behind if you try to stop? And when you stop in the middle of the road, YOU ARE ALREADY WRONG AND THE ONLY RULE LEFT IS TO AVOID ANY ACCIDENT, which is applied to any situation. So you need to decide if you need to run or stop yourself. Actually, you should estimate that even earlier before you pass the stop line like many others said if you did not stop you may be just fine before their lights turned green. But/and there can always be many other different kinds of things happening at the same time, so use your own discretion. Put the emergency lights on when you have to stop there or whatever to help others see you and avoid hitting your car.
