0 y9 S# N( ^, l; ]4 O& cEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
) @/ K; \! F" g
" ^+ O, k, V) U. h" @The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.
) {# R) s$ T5 @$ [$ A7 m+ w. d( D& E1 g
Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

: G j2 M% r4 L5 u+ J"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
