+ _/ i. Y; r7 y1 I: \1 C: |# U& J- bEDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.
! |- ?: I m; v1 y3 A7 O8 S8 i" q' B3 r5 ]2 @7 j0 {7 L+ s& U# [8 F
The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.
U& K$ W g7 i1 @. Z, a y/ _* s! `, u" h# f3 N& N, c
Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."* ]) F" r! H, {1 [1 Z

The mall fully reopened around 10 a.m. |
