EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning. q5 E' D. z; t1 k! y
9 D# V1 p& S4 AThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

9 s6 R6 [, G7 ]Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

4 I8 L& i4 X! l A- R& k"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
