0 Y( s1 z" E2 E6 c8 z% v　　A hundred leagues locked in ice,

　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.
4 ^- N4 x) S. M1 {. ?. a" y
　　Both sides of the Great Wall

- s' ]: O& y  M" O/ K, N0 o1 P　　One single white immensity.

# I4 a2 \) j# S% o5 z2 s　　The Yellow River"s swift current

" |* ~; s3 q  x8 s- B" M　　Is stilled from end to end.

! k; K  S5 B) }+ P! B. w　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　Vying with heaven in stature.

' U5 v( m/ D! F; X　　On a fine day, the land,

. P" h6 `2 }* |　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

8 f8 G. }9 c( C! q　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

　　And Genghis Khan,

5 b' ?2 J0 z8 k　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

　　For truly great men
