I'd like to invite people to join our new Community Dialogue project.
" [0 H2 T$ _4 zIn phase 1 we have a couple of extra spots available for Community: g: z: m9 R: r$ G/ y# z
Engagement Training.

We can accept a few people to join us this Friday (3~6 p.m.)and Saturday," @5 o4 g; e4 e' I. l) p) Z$ N
(9~3 p.m. ) to improve skills in building multicultural neighbourhood% G: L) ^- e; V. Q' ~) R- V+ x, F1 N
groups. We're especially focused on developing groups that can work( Y9 B* S9 a5 X# z
together across cultures to create community projects and Action for Healthy
" O9 f/ Z9 o+ W! c! J7 fCommunities can often support these projects with funding of up to $1,000.8 e! ^, x, i9 i7 E5 j

! B. A, D% M2 ~8 D+ R6 GPacific, "Bougainville Sky" is the story of how music helped overcome years
$ O, e5 O9 t6 K# tof fear and distrust to rebuild peace in a war torn society. When bitter( i, I, q, T# W' l
conflict on Bougainville Island ended in 1997, the combatants invited the
2 [# L; X; O$ X3 ~international community to send in a Peacekeeping force on one condition: ?+ Z D' C$ a( z9 H
they come unarmed. Amongst the Peacekeepers was young Australian songwriter
5 u8 R: |% @" a' E6 }Iain Campbell Smith, whose music and radio program became a legend on the
+ z* A3 A2 X; F% eisland and contributed to the success of the world¹s first unarmed4 M* o% @/ d9 r3 N! x. ?
international peacekeeping operation.

; k8 g5 `- q- X: W- U0 A: }This beautifully shot film allows the Bougainvillean people to tell their

Afghanistan, the success story of the Bougainville peace process seems" Z. K+ d) Y- Q, X
improbable: an unarmed international intervention fostering local customs9 d6 V# P! I9 m
and music to strengthen an indigenous-run peace process < and it worked!) m" J' b+ P2 I$ {6 `
+ a: r1 s5 _' y1 i- hAccording to Smith "the fact that we were unarmed was critical to the0 J8 j/ |8 j1 p& i" R$ j
success of the peace process in Bougainville. It set the tone for the whole
j; H( s5 T! ^0 `- \; fprocess, and put responsibility for the safety of the Peacekeepers in the! N* [5 M/ f) ~( F' [
hands of the militants and the people, rather than the other way around.
