Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me: 7 @' A( r4 Q. J6 [- S) ^; D5 w$ m
"I am going to send it back". }+ J( ?! N8 H* s& L
I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
5 v' @! \9 A6 a. l. K "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
, V& H) `0 s$ l. x7 VHe said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage." : z% A2 B% F3 F7 n; W! M/ U9 w
"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?"
& e4 W o' l5 Z( ^6 y"Yes, I did."
! k' h5 X- [# |5 A" CFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post. # k( G7 R1 U3 j* U: z4 v5 X
He took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet. 9 d: \3 V# x) {( a! @% G
"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?"
* @! D! |* y: q' Y1 Z5 a) j" t"No, I am not. I do not do those things."
: t0 P. A5 A8 H" N$ m% I! LHe took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside.
0 ?0 A Z. [1 C! S$ w3 |: ~7 c3 mI gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:

, A9 v+ ^5 i/ z"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:1 ^$ N* {# w# W* v

I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"

* h/ ^5 v. c- R" a; gMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it. 6 y+ Y! e2 ]" ]. `* {! z
He did not a posses a home, but he had a big heart. He had the precious fortune of being a man of integrity.
