Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
5 A9 H! g. t) c$ R7 h% a+ {5 vPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
1 d; }7 Q# U+ Z, N7 M3 I0 }Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
