TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
$ c3 q0 s/ ?+ M5 U. `9 pClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

# R( O1 H) }+ T8 t0 F% eThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
"The Sun Life name is also well known and highly respected in many other markets around the world," said Sun Life chief executive Don Stewart.
