TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
$ c3 q0 s/ ?+ M5 U. `9 pClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.) N; B% ]# i1 P `! N/ b# \: v, n' ^# [
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.- Y7 }) e* S* {+ p
# R( O1 H) }+ T8 t0 F% eThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.2 E7 d, T5 @- [( o2 }# O3 V" a4 W
"The Sun Life name is also well known and highly respected in many other markets around the world," said Sun Life chief executive Don Stewart.
