TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
Clarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
There are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

  p  n& g0 c6 FThe company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
& g6 k' U$ N4 l9 F"The Sun Life name is also well known and highly respected in many other markets around the world," said Sun Life chief executive Don Stewart.
