The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.
9195.  

& W! M5 n3 j+ z# W- }6 \' MSalary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

1 z1 }$ M5 G) R& @  ^+ x9 U$ ODuties include: working closely with graduate students and research
: J. S( T* m/ t3 F1 \3 _1 b3 I+ etechnicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
% B; w, S) h2 T( N3 P6 a2 bfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
  P- B$ e+ C# A* Z3 Iinclude carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
) P1 }3 C  F! F; n$ Qcompounds by chromatography.

Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
Chemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
1 i8 d1 L% B7 X5 [. t- M- W$ C4 Ganalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
# ]/ Q! k( o3 {9 aseparations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
of a team essential.
This position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
% `% O$ |2 C4 s* }and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
  A9 a& Z& ^% A' q! jhope to work in these areas.
