Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works
+ r$ e }# P: x3 R1 S• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.1 C! b3 Q0 Q& u$ k& J
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.
5 a$ C* h9 g# X2 ?& Q• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.$ T( _! ?2 b' n5 P
Parks, Asset Management & Public Works8 {, w: H* L5 a; n
• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
+ E7 J8 D8 T9 m! L4 v• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.. r; I. \' L4 Y3 Y, c2 x1 L- [. a
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.
. q& f, U, r+ `; o• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.
. @* K/ o, a, J8 i4 {; I8 q• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.( P5 s& x/ S: A* W. ]7 r
• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.

& Q% w2 f; p" F& e- r3 s• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).
$ n4 C: F g; E1 a. e9 ^• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.

• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.: H0 q7 O; i6 O7 V& b3 f
• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities." f8 |# H8 [- \- t- @$ g" N
Functions of all positions:

& T8 c6 a! ?) A7 [: V: d2 D• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
1 v: j; y7 j1 j/ s• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.- G, o# V' X+ w) Y* K
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.
- c) t+ d: P2 N0 z. ~9 c• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.' |7 r' O, }2 c# i) T6 [2 G* P
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.

) D" u% b# [+ d. q1 a" t' C3 B7 GHOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.. W s% O% M* ?# u( d5 X
SALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
