society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
) ^/ b8 |. @- x& W8 H3 Lvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,

sustainable communities.

; I1 L: e( w" k. t1 [7 o0 m/ o* K7 W0 HPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
/ h  Z' S, @* Y5 B5 Kand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
5 E% J# Q4 c0 h4 m* r& h1 Znon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
& [" B# c# C' R- hworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
- c5 z7 k) a) w/ K- Bpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
0 R  _, n' x$ m: eaffairs at all times.

9 t% Q# e$ Z5 _5 t" r  R7 l" ~- aPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
# Q8 u' r) s( o3 [4 [vision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
- J' f9 U- M. e6 T0 Zthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

9 p$ b% d4 x% K* {In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
5 Q: W3 ~! B: j9 a5 d9 H' _development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
4 O5 ^; k& [" n( _! zpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

9 f5 s: s& n; t+ A9 _2 R$ |* ?Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
5 n' H. I7 d# x' n# H2 M$ G* Qpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
! z/ Z3 [, z! V4 Rwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
: V+ o9 _, d* j( X6 r( Kmanaging projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
& t0 J) `8 H, D4 `$ z) h9 Fprocesses an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
/ j, \% m( c+ S4 s& \0 A7 rproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
