Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

- h$ Y: s- e9 [; M5 \1 D' r. s• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.! c/ C' E o" d4 M5 x
• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability

. G; E5 e/ L6 B- y, ~• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
8 R) G1 \& z+ D" g• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
. z2 u+ m% w- O# K9 T+ v• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.3 t6 o, ^0 o9 j" E
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 2 U! g h# D7 t/ I/ T
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

3 V& t0 ]0 H* zvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
